B&B Italia starts 2016 with the launch in Cologne of brand new projects for the living and outdoor spaces, as well as by proposing range extensions and new finishes for products already part of its collections. Displayed in a spectacular 700 square metres space in Hall 11.1 at the IMM Cologne fair, the new products are the result of the B&B Italia Research & Development Centre’s ability to establish a fruitful dialogue with the great designers with whom it collaborates. A synergy capable of translating insights and creativity into products and industrial processes that require a significant commitment to research and experimentation.

Richard is the new seating system which distinguishes itself by its balanced contemporary design, with references to classical atmospheres. Its modular theme is developed by 76 elements in two depths: 90 cm for more formal and contained solutions, and 120 cm for larger compositions and more informal seating. The extreme flexibility of the system and the ease with which the different elements can be assembled allows the living space to be interpreted in the most varied configurations, from formal to more relaxed, with seats, benches, ottomans and chaise longue. The wide range of covers, in fabric with matching tones or contrasting profiles, and in leather with profiles in the same leather, allows an even greater level of customisation, offering monochromatic or contrasting solutions. The structure is emphasised by a metallic profile at the base, either black chromed or pewter painted. Four sizes of optional cushions (65x50 cm, 48x48 cm, 55x30 cm, 38x38 cm) increase the comfort.

Gio, designed by Antonio Citterio, is the new series with a contemporary classic accent dedicated to living in the open air. A complete range of sofas, end units, chaise longue, sunbeds, armchairs, chairs, tables and complements which have been developed from solid teak structures with a special antique grey finish, which gives the wood a particular lived-in aspect and silver-grey reflective quality. The various types of sofas, end units and chaise longue can be assembled to form linear, corner and peninsula seating. They all have a basic structure of wooden slats where backrests and armrests, characterised by and interlacing of ecru or orange ribbons, can be easily inserted. This particular type of structure allows for easily disassemble the various components, so to reduce the space needed to store the products in winter. The seats are equipped with seat and back cushions which makes the Gio series particularly cosy and comfortable, and offer exclusive colour combinations. To ensure a better insulation from the weather, all the padded elements have a polyester cover with waterproof treatment, and the fabrics are certified for resistance to weathering, UV rays, chlorine and sea spray.
